Ride for Kids (Support Our Official Charity) 8/02/15
#1
The [Image: external.png]2015 Michigan Ride for Kids will take place on 8/02/15!

For 2015, the Ride for Kids has also been added to the Landmark Ride as a SPECIAL Bonus Stop. For participating in this event and capturing it on film, you will get an additional entry in the prize drawing; see the 2015 Landmark Ride thread for more information.

== WHERE ==

Ann Arbor, MI 48106

== WHEN ==
8/02/15. Registration is from 8-10:30am; the ride begins shortly afterward. We will be meeting up at a nearby Big Boy beforehand so we can arrive at the event together. Feel free to still come even if you can't make it to meet-up at Big Boys with us first!

Those interested in breakfast can go to Big Boy, say, between 8:15-8:30, and those that are just coming there to join up with the group can get there by 9:15am, for KSU @ 9:30am. It will take just a few minutes to get to the RFK, so we'd be there before 10am.

IMPORTANT NOTES
  • This is completely separate from the other Bonus Stops and does not count as one of those
  • Picture that is submitted for additional prize drawing entry must show the rider wearing Ride for Kids arm band at the event. If you can get your bike in the picture too, that is optimal but not required.

Here's an example picture showing a rider with arm band at the event.

Q: WHY IS THE RIDE FOR KIDS A SPECIAL BONUS STOP?
We tried this last year for the first time. It seemed to make good sense because the proceeds from the Landmark Ride are donated to the charity at this very event, and this can also help to increase participation in the event to some degree (over the years it's been waning and that's very unfortunate!). If you actually attend and participate in the event, not only will you enjoy it, but you will also get an extra crack at a prize at the end of the Landmark Ride.

Thanks for getting this year's thread set up, Myron! I'm definitely planning to participate after having to miss it last year.

Also free donuts and beverage before the ride. Usually a nice treat to kick the ride off.

I know I won't make it for the breakfast at Big Boy but I'll try and meet you there before you leave for the College.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend this year's PBTF Ride For Kids. I'll be attending a family get-together in the Cleveland Metro area of Ohio on that day with two of my three adult kids as well as my two grandkids, just to name a few.

I was really hoping to attend this year's Ride For Kids, too, especially given I've completed all 25 destinations for the 2015 Landmark Ride.

Perhaps there can be some sort of distortion in the space-time continuum such that I can be in two different locations at the same time. It could happen.

Sorry, I will not be able to attend. Like Tanker I have a family function on that day. I had hoped to make it this year for the bonus stop. Sad

See y'all there this Sunday! Mary will be with me, her first ride on my bike in quite a long time. Really looking forward to this one, especially for that reason!

I'm still planning to be there but the weather forecast is not looking too promising. Severe thunderstorms are predicted. But, this is Michigan and it could very well be Sunny with no chance of rain by tomorrow a.m.. I will make my decision Sunday morning. I hope to see you all then. (With that said, I'm going to get out and ride somewhere today)

JHHayesII, I think FeTT-X has something for you if you're able to make it to this year's Ride For Kids.

Beetle, BobVTX, FeTT-X, JHHayesII, and KPop, please take a group picture at the Ride For Kids event, post-it up on the website, and that way I'll be able to Photoshop myself into that picture, and thereby get credit for attending that Landmark Ride Special Bonus event and earn another raffle ticket. Say what? It doesn't work like that? Oh well. Please post-up a group picture all the same. Thanks. Big Shiny Grin

I am sorry to say, that due to the weather forecast for my area as well as Ann Arbor area, I will not be able to make this event.
They are showing that there will be thunderstorms at around 12 - 1 at 70 - 90 percent.
Rain, maybe, thunderstorms, no.

I'm already dressed to go, bummer...

Edit...
Just checked another two weather stations, and they say the thunderstorms are coming in around 5 or 6.
I'll see you all at the Bigboy for a cup of coffee.

I was just wondering if anyone that was waiting for their event T-Shirt has received theirs or not. They were out of them at the event and promised to mail them to us. I am still waiting.

No. I don't know how many if any extra large shirts they printed, but there were only about 50 people there.

Here is a group photo from the event. Sorry it took so long to upload. No handicappers in the area, so we were OK for a few minutes. Doh!
